Foods Resource Bank Project...
Once again, Peace Lutheran Church is participating in a Foods Resource Bank
project. This year, however, we are doing it alone as our partner church for the
past two years decided to move on to another worthwhile project.
For the second year in a
row, the plot has been planted on Scheiderer Farms land. This year, 25 acres are
devoted to soybeans and the income from these beans will be directed to Lutheran
World Relief through the Foods Resource Bank.
Field work has been
donated by church members, local businesses have donated seed, herbicides, fuel
for tractors and combines and some cash to help us in this endeavor. But, some
expenses still need to be covered and we're asking for donations. The more money
we can bring in, the less money that will have to be taken out of the income
received from the beans when they are sold at harvest, which means more money
will be sent to the Foods Resource Bank to be used to fight world hunger.
Expenses for the project
that need to be paid include $2000 cash rent, $1,149 fertilizer, $438 seed and
$168 herbicide for a total of $3,755. The projected income from sale of the
beans is $6,000.
If you can help us with
this cause, place your donation in the offering plate and designate it for Foods
Resource Bank. Questions can be directed to Bobby Scheiderer at 388-5676.
Thanks!

Foods Resource Bank Project...
For the third year in a row, Peace participated in a food growing project for
the Foods Resource Bank. Bobby and Sandra Scheiderer provided the 24.5 acres of
land which were planted with soybeans. At harvest, the beans yielded 52 bushels
per acre.
Bobby and Jon Moore
provided the labor to prepare the soil, plant the beans and harvest the crop.
Gebhardt Seeds and Salisbury Ag Center, Salisbury, Ron McNeal Seeds and Young's
Agri Service, Keytesville, and Mitch Peiffer, Glasgow, donated seed for the
plot. Ricketts Farm Service, Salisbury, donated herbicide and Wright's Oil
Company and Mid-Missouri Agri-Systems, Salisbury, made cash donations toward the
project. MFA Elevator, Salisbury, paid a 10-cent premium per bushel at harvest.
And members of Peace donated a total of $1,005.00 toward the project.
Due to everyone's
generosity and hard work, Peace was able to send a total of $4,760.90 to
Lutheran World Relief. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!
