Foods Resource Bank Project…
Peace Lutheran and Lutheran Church of the Atonement in Florisant have joined together for the second year to help fight world hunger with a community growing project for the Foods Resource Bank.

Bobby and Sandra Scheiderer have donated a 24 ˝ acre site for the project. Bobby planted the corn on April 4, after Tyler Linneman worked the ground. Jon Moore assisted Bobby by bringing the seed corn to the plot.

“The seed was donated and the other inputs have been paid for,” said Bobby. “Now we’ll have to wait and see how the weather cooperates and how the crop turns out.”

Foods Resource Bank Project…
Plans are set to harvest the community growing project corn plot for the Foods Resource Bank on Saturday, September 10. Our partners from Lutheran Church of the Atonement in Florissant will be joining us that morning in the field to watch the combining of the corn. We’ll treat them to lunch back at the church between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Hayrides at the plot are tentatively scheduled.

Foods Resource Bank Project…

We had a beautiful fall day to harvest the community growing project corn plot for the Foods Resource Bank on Saturday, September 10. A busload of members from Lutheran Church of the Atonement in Florissant, our partner in the project, came up for the day and enjoyed watching the combines in the field. Quite a few folks even rode in the combines with Leland and myself. Following the trip to the field, everyone returned to the church and enjoyed a lunch prepared by Peace members

The 24.5 acres of corn made 3,007.5 bushels and sold at MFA for $1.87 a bushel, which included a 10-cent premium, for a total of $5,624.03.  Atonement Lutheran contributed $5,137.81 and expenses were $4,466.66.   Net proceeds sent to FRB were $6,780.14.
