Dear Members and Friends of Peace,
A memorable old poster pictured a church building with the simple
phrase "The Welcome Place" framing it. But how do we welcome people?
Part of our journey as Peace Lutheran Church has been to wonder about
how we can become more welcoming of others and the members of our own
community. Our answer? A new welcoming space – an addition to our
church. This new building we hope will empower us to:
- Welcome our older members and the physically challenged by making
our building fully handicap accessible and by providing bathrooms on
the main floor.
- Welcome our guests and newcomers with an attractive and open
entrance space to greet one another and share in relationship.
- Welcome our growing youth and Sunday School programs by providing
for more classrooms and open areas.
- Welcome the community and our whole church family with space for
parish dinners and gatherings.
- Welcome each other into the process of building up one another as
we join together to build this project.
We want to welcome you to a groundbreaking ceremony for our new
building addition on Sunday, June 30, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. We will have a
brief service followed by an old-fashioned ice cream social. Come join
us as we prepare the ground for our future.
This is an amazing time and project for our parish. A cherished
member once offered the vision that "someday we will knock a hole in the
church wall and build on." That wonderful day has come. We would like to
invite you to become a part of this project. If you would like to make a
personal donation or a memorial gift, an envelope is provided. If you
can help with labor or some building materials, we will welcome them. If
you can keep us in your thoughts and prayers, we will cherish them. All
of the gifts offered will be recognized in a permanent way when we
dedicate the completed building.
Thank you for your continued support of this parish. We have all been
welcomed into this community. May you continue to feel welcome here as
well.
